โ๐ช๐บ Due to a new European Union (EU) regulation, access to the bootloader will be locked starting on August 1, 2025. This will prevent users from installing custom ROMs on their devices.
This change is being implemented to enhance user security. Custom ROMs, which are modified versions of Android, can offer new features and interfaces. However, they lack the proper security signatures, making them vulnerable to malicious software. Without these signatures, hackers can easily inject malware to steal personal data, run ransomware, or launch other attacks without being detected.
Many Android manufacturers, including Samsung and Xiaomi, are already beginning to follow this new rule. The move to lock down bootloaders will make it harder for third-party developers to create and distribute custom ROMs.
This is a list of Android distributions, Android-based operating systems (OS) commonly referred to as Custom ROMs or Android ROMs, forked from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) without Google Play Services included officially in some or all markets, yet maintained independent coverage in notable Android-related sources.
The list may include distributions that come pre-installed on a device (stock ROM) or modifications of them. Only builds considered official are listed.
